Upholding a Legacy of Trust and Vision

Deep-Rooted Heritage and Transformative Journey of a Storied Institution

The Haurun Club emerged during an era marked by a scarcity of genuine trust. At its core, the Club was founded to re-establish authentic and meaningful relationships within society. Its founding figure—a decorated entrepreneur renowned for his integrity and unwavering honour—was famously described as ‘The Most Trusted Man in England’ by Sir Desmond de Silva QC, a distinguished member of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s privy council and husband to HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia. This singular recognition underscores the centrality of trust in both the founder’s personal values and his professional pursuits.

An Unmatched Network of Influencers

Within the City of London’s most exclusive circles, our founder built a reputation as a master connector, and pioneering Influencer at a time when influencers were at an infancy. He was coined as: ‘The Ultimate Influencer’. He facilitated introductions between influential individuals, including Royal Families, Family Offices, City of London Mayors, leading media figures, global collectives, and discreet fraternities—among them, members of the legendary Knights Templar. Despite his extensive reach, he exercised discernment, swiftly identifying those who sought to exploit connections for personal gain and instead nurtured relationships built on authenticity and mutual respect.

Heritage Fuelled by Tradition and Progress

Inspired by the distinguished heritage of London’s private members’ clubs, our founder—a respected member of renowned establishments such as The Colony Club, M Den Victoria Club, Home House, The London Capital Club (formerly The Gresham Club, now closed), South Kensington Club (closed), Mortons (closed), and The Devonshire Club (closed)—identified a critical challenge facing modern society. He recognised that traditional clubs are often plagued by high member turnover, as individuals are continually drawn to the latest fashionable venues and emerging trends.

Furthermore, he was sharply attuned to the unstoppable surge of online communication, which has rendered geographical and national boundaries almost irrelevant. Yet, he also observed with concern the widespread proliferation of fake profiles and the alarming levels of abuse directed at genuine users striving to connect and share their experiences. This abuse, no longer limited by physical borders, increasingly crosses into the real world, with women disproportionately affected by such behaviour.

Reflecting on the historical exclusion of women from private members’ clubs—and recognising the persistence of this inequality within online communities—our founder firmly believed that building a community founded on equality was essential. He also maintained that strong security and rigorous member verification processes are not merely preferable but absolutely vital.

In parallel, other forward-thinking individuals sought to address the growing demand for female-focused networking within the private members’ club sphere, leading to the establishment of Allbright in Mayfair. However, this initiative arrived too late and has since closed, further affirming the importance and timeliness of our founder’s vision as it continues to develop and take shape.

Modernising the Private Members Club

With this understanding, the founder envisioned a contemporary, online private members club that honoured the traditions of exclusivity and reciprocity—the bedrock principles of classic clubs. Membership would be strictly by invitation, considered a rare privilege and protected by rigorous vetting to ensure trust was established from the very beginning. To enhance its exclusive nature, luxury products would be made available solely to members, further distinguishing the Club’s unique offering.

A Vision Born in the City of London

The concept for The Haurun Club was first crafted over a series of breakfast meetings at Mansion House in the City of London, following lively exchanges with three Lord Mayors. Even ahead of its website’s launch, the Club contracted a rich array of Brand Ambassadors, including a supermodel Bond Girl, a world-renowned interior designer, a highly respected psychiatrist, and well-connected personalities from Mayfair, Knightsbridge and Chelsea. Ambassadors were rewarded for facilitating successful introductions, driving the Club’s organic expansion. The Club’s promise was swiftly acknowledged when a contract was signed to sell a 10% share for £103 million to a prominent Lord and technology leader in Silicon Valley, in partnership with Family Office Funding and Pivotal Labs.

A Coveted Portfolio of Luxury Brands

Prestigious luxury brands engaged with our founder, aspiring to receive Affiliate Membership. Iconic names such as Aston Martin, Taj Palaces, Six Senses, Bentley, Watches of Switzerland, Jo Malone, Lucy Choi, Sunseeker, Lulu Guinness, and many more sought affiliations with fledgling the Club, aiming to reach its distinguished audience.

Resilience and Renewal in Uncertain Times

The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic led the founder to temporarily pause the Club’s development, redirecting his energy towards the referred financial matters, emerging digital technologies and online communities. During this reflective period, he authored two books on his experiences, reimagined the Club’s digital platform, moved the headquarters to the prestigious 35 Berkeley Square in Mayfair, and rebranded as simply Haurun before incorporating The Haurun Club Ltd on 5 May 2023. Innovation persisted, new partnerships, and the Club’s unique character continued to evolve.

International Recognition and Growth

The Haurun Club’s renown soon transcended national boundaries. In May 2024, The Executive Magazine’s Monaco Edition hailed it as: The Most Exclusive Members-Only Network in the World’. Committed to blending tradition with modernity, the Club announced the upcoming launch of a reciprocal initiative—The Brand Ambassadors Club—achieved in December 2025. Furthermore, with growing societal concerns around women’s safety, the Club is highlighted as ‘The Haurun Club: Exclusive Private Members Website and App’ by Women Love Tech.

Embracing the Next Chapter

The story of The Haurun Club is one of remarkable relationships, enduring accolades, and a forward-looking vision. It stands as a living testament to the enduring power of trust and the transformative energy of innovation. As it moves confidently into its next phase with The Brand Ambassadors Club, The Haurun Club extends an invitation to discerning individuals to join a legacy defined by exclusivity, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Background of our Founder

Celebrating Generations of Ingenuity, Craftsmanship, and Social Responsibility

Darren Thomas Bolger: A Legacy of Entrepreneurship, Maritime Heritage and Community Leadership

Darren Thomas Bolger is widely recognised as a leading innovator and entrepreneur whose influence touches a broad spectrum of industries, including maritime, property development, law, hospitality, and technology. His career is deeply rooted in the Bolger family's celebrated maritime heritage, famed for their pioneering craftsmanship, steadfast community leadership, and enduring commitment to philanthropy. Darren's journey embodies not only his own resourcefulness but also the lasting values instilled by the generations before him.

The Bolger Family: Maritime Excellence and Entrepreneurial Roots

The Bolger family’s legacy is interwoven with the history of British maritime achievement and entrepreneurial endeavour. Darren’s paternal grandfather, Bert Bolger, distinguished himself as a Boilermaker and Plater at London Dockyards, eventually rising to lead the Boilermakers’ union and oversee a workforce of 3,000 at Mobil Oil. Bert’s reputation was such that employment at the shipyards often hinged on his approval, and his close relationship with Lord Ted Hill, Baron of Wivenhoe, placed him at the centre of British industrial progress. This proud tradition was carried forward by Darren’s father, Brian Bolger, and uncle, Terrence. Both began as Sea Cadets before training as Shipwrights at Harland & Wolff Dockyard, where they contributed to significant national shipping innovations.

Their work included the design of data capture technology for the North Sea ‘Data-Bouy’, expertise on North Sea oil refineries, and the transformation of London’s Docklands. Their status as Master Shipwrights is a testament to the family’s ongoing dedication to progress and excellence.

Craftsmanship, Character, and Community Service

Under the guidance of their father, Darren and his brothers—Brian and Jason—embraced traditional maritime trades from an early age. Together, they restored historic vessels such as ‘La Dame de Serk’ and the ‘Lady of the Lea’ Thames Barge at St. Katherines Marina, as well as the family’s own ‘Wendy’ North Devon Sand Barge at St. Osyth Boatyard, Essex. These formative experiences honed their technical skills and instilled values of teamwork, discipline, and respect for their craft.

This rigorous apprenticeship not only refined their abilities but also shaped their character, keeping the brothers grounded in tradition and focused on purposeful work. As the industry evolved, their adaptability enabled them to excel in carpentry and joinery, upholding the Bolger reputation for excellence.

Heritage and Innovation: Maritime Skills in Modern Business

The brothers’ mastery allowed them to undertake prestigious projects across London and beyond. Their skill was vital in the restoration of the Grade II listed East India Dock House (1989) and the transformation of the Grade I listed Red Lion Hotel in Colchester (1990), where their work preserved historical integrity and revealed Roman mosaics. These projects established them as meticulous custodians of history and innovation. Following his apprenticeship, Darren joined his father at Point Wharf in Greenwich, where they built and sailed ‘The New Orleans’ (Hobbs & Sons) to the Henley Regatta, contributing to Britain’s cultural heritage. Though Darren’s career was briefly interrupted by an injury at Tilbury Docks, the family’s legacy of craftsmanship remained undiminished.

Monumental British Heritage

On Darren’s Maternal Side: Monumental British Heritage

John Johnston and the Rollo Gillespie Monument – Comber Square

On his paternal side, Darren’s great-great grandfather, John Johnston, designed, architected, and built the historic Rollo Gillespie Monument in Comber Square, Armagh, Northern Ireland. Sir Robert Rollo Gillespie (1766–1814), commemorated by the monument, was born in Comber Square and baptised at St Mary's Parish Church before embarking on a distinguished military career.

  • As Captain, Gillespie’s first action was at Tiburon in the West Indies (1794).
  • In 1798, he survived a violent attack on San Domingo, reportedly killing six assailants despite severe injuries.
  • He joined the 19th Dragoons in India (1806), leading his troops to Vellore and is immortalised in Sir Henry Newbolt’s poem "Gillespie".
  • In 1811, he participated in the Java expedition, capturing Batavia and earning promotion to Major-General.
  • Gillespie led the Meerut Division in India (1813), battling the Ghurkhas in Nepal, and died heroically at Kalunga in 1814, his last words reportedly, "One shot more for the honour of Down."

His remains rest at Meerut, and he was awarded a posthumous knighthood in the 1815 New Year’s honours. In 1820, St Paul's Cathedral erected a memorial to him. Comber honoured him with the Rollo Gillespie Monument, designed and built by John Johnston. The monument’s foundation stone was laid on 24th June 1844—St John’s Day, significant to Freemasons—and unveiled a year later with over 30,000 Freemasons in attendance. Notably, a sealed bottle containing historical artefacts was embedded in the foundation, and the monument’s tablets commemorate Gillespie’s military achievements and family legacy.

Thanks to research by Darren’s mother and cooperation from the Ards and Down council, the plaque at the monument was updated on 30/10/2025, officially recognising Johnston’s contribution to its construction.

Leadership, Philanthropy and Social Impact

Celebrating Generations of Ingenuity, Craftsmanship, and Social Responsibility

Darren’s rise as an entrepreneur has always been accompanied by a deep sense of social responsibility. He founded the first pro bono registered charity dedicated to reviewing criminal convictions and fostered a thriving community for London’s social elite, supporting the Lord Mayor’s charitable initiatives and contributing significantly to City Giving Day and Whittington Hospital. In 2016, his community service was formally recognised with the badge of honour for Services to the Community in Wandsworth.

A champion for opportunity and inclusion, Darren has acted as a judge for the Lionheart Challenge and mentored budding entrepreneurs across state and independent schools, inspiring many with his accessible approach and unwavering determination. His reach extends from grassroots projects to respected relationships with Royal Families, leading business figures, and international organisations. His reputation as ‘The Most Trusted Man in England’, as described by Sir George Desmond Lorenz de Silva, QC, KStJ, a former member of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Privy Council, speaks volumes about the respect he commands throughout society.

The Bolger Family Today: Tradition, Achievement and Inspiration

The Bolger legacy lives on through the continued achievements of its members. Brian Thomas Bolger, now retired, remains passionate about reviving traditional trades in London. Brian Paul Bolger leads a successful carpentry and joinery business, blending expert craftsmanship with his enthusiasm for motorsport. Jason Bert Bolger, author and justice advocate, is dedicated to elite fitness and restoring his 50-foot sports boat.

Darren continues to bridge heritage and modernity as founder of The Haurun Club, whilst also pursuing his interests as an artist, author, media executive, and tennis enthusiast. His experiences are captured in two published books, a podcast, and forthcoming film and docuseries projects, ensuring the Bolger legacy will inspire generations to come.

The story of Darren Thomas Bolger and his family is one of resilience, creativity, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Rooted in Britain’s maritime and industrial past, their legacy continues to shape entrepreneurship, craftsmanship, and charitable service. The Bolger's have not only built physical landmarks but also created opportunities for others, uplifting communities and setting new standards for achievement and integrity. Their heritage is a living tradition—ever evolving, ever inspiring with each new chapter.

Darren, shown below at the pinnacle of the 'Mayoral Pyramid', joined 24 Greater London Mayors for the 'Whittington Walk'—a journey from Whittington Hospital to Mansion House, pausing at Islington Town Hall en route. The group enjoyed a splendid curry lunch together at Mansion House, hosted by the Lord Mayor of the City of London. To read more about Darren simply click here
